Plug and Play InsurTech is the matchmaker between large, innovative insurance corporations like Statefarm Insurance, USAA, and Farmers Insurance with top startups disrupting the InsurTech space. With all the ways our cars are evolving, how we request and receive medical care, and insure our valuables and property; this innovation platform with Plug and Play is changing the way we look at all insurance products forever.
The Community Managers are currently divided amongst the industry-specific verticals of Plug and Play Tech Center. The Community Manager is responsible for the day-to-day tasks that their team faces in terms of scheduling dealflows between corporations and startups, planning events for networking, preparing monthly newsletters, ordering promotional materials and supplies for the team, and other essential duties as needed.
The Community Manager is seen as the primary point of contact for their team, along with corporations and startups engaged with their specific vertical.
Duties and Responsibilities
Organize dealflows between corporate partners and startups; this will require you to reach out to each corporate partner roughly six times per year
Assist the Ventures team with the collection of feedback after each dealflow your vertical is responsible for
Reduce the amount of traffic from Director by answering questions from corporate partners and startups in a professional and friendly manner
Create meaningful and positive relationships with the startups in your vertical
Introduce new members to corporate partners when there is potential synergy or business opportunity
Arrange casual dinners or group lunches in an effort to form a sense of community amongst the startup batches
Prepare documents for major events such as: Selection Day, Startup Orientation Day, flyers for meetups, and so forth (documents must be approved by Marketing before submitting)
Coordinate a monthly newsletter with your team to keep entire network up to date on events
Work with our Marketing team to post relevant news and updates to social media
Customize and prepare respective materials as they pertain to different events
Update Orientation packets for each new batch of startups
Collaborate with Mentors and plan group, one-on-one, or individual sessions; organize catering and inform start ups of the mentor session
Schedule monthly team meetups
Confirm attending start ups for the EXPO event; gather all information for the EXPO brochure regarding start ups from your vertical; record attendees from Eventbrite; prepare corporate nametags and essentials
Update documents as changes occur, including Mailchimp, Dropbox, and Google Drive
Order necessary materials and equipment from Staples and prepare purchase orders for accounting
Manage all calendar invites for events
Update Salesforce with new calls, sync calls, and add new contracts
Contact professors in an attempt to include them into the program
Connect with VC's to schedule calls, events, and deal flows
Complete additional projects as needed
1-3 years customer service and sales experience required
Project management and business operations experience a plus
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
Comfortable with Excel, Google Docs, Salesforce CRM and other technology solutions for driving sales
Demonstrate integrity, dependability, responsibility, accountability, self-awareness, work ethic, and empathy
