The Axel Springer Plug and Play accelerator has launched its second round of eight start-ups. 1o1Media, blogfoster, embraase, Get2play, Jobspotting, CartMi, Socius and VINTAGEHUB are now working for three months at Axel Springer Plug and Play in Berlin-Kreuzberg.  The program comprises seed investment, comprehensive mentoring, workshops and access to Axel Springer and Plug and Play Tech Center’s international network in Silicon Valley.

The participants will benefit for the first time from the wealth of foundation expertise brought in by Jörg Rheinboldt, the successful founder of a number of companies and promoter of numerous founders as a Business Angel, who came on board as an additional managing director in the middle of October alongside Ulrich Schmitz and Saeed Amidi.

Jörg Rheinboldt: “The founders fully convinced us of their approach during the selection process. We are looking forward to working together and jointly stepping on the gas in order to establish these business models successfully on the market.”

The American video artist Katie Armstrong (Galerie EIGEN + ART) can be found alongside the eight start-ups in the rooms in Markgrafenstrasse. She is using the area as a temporary studio. Katie Armstrong creates hand-drawn animated films in which she links pop culture with personal experiences.

Axel Springer AG and Plug and Play Tech Center, a leading startup investor and accelerator based in Silicon Valley, have teamed up to form Axel Springer Plug and Play. Its goal is to promote media-related business ideas. The first round was recently successfully completed. Three of the start-ups, Asuum, Papayer and Zenguard have already received follow-up financing from external investors. Further funding is expected in the near future.

Here are the participants in the second round…
