Earlier today, VC Steve Jurvetson, Scott Miller, the senior director of Skype and several Estonian startups convened at Plug and Play to discuss the growth and future of business technology in Estonia. Toomas Hendrik Ilves,the President of Estonia, joined the discussion via skype and explained his efforts to push the country in a tech centered direction. Steve Jurvetson, managing director of DFJ kicked off the event with an inspirational speech about the global impact of technology acceleration. Jurvetson emphasized that through innovation, small countries and companies have opportunities to create meaningful change in the world. Estonia has created an influential business industry comprised of entrepreneurs striving to develop innovation through technological advancements.Technologies such as Skype have inspired entrepreneurs in Estonia to develop a flourishing tech culture. Estonia’s rapid technology acceleration has allowed for growth and progress in a variety of industries including agriculture, health, manufacturing and bio-technology. Plug and Play has made 20 investments in European countries in the past 12 months and is dedicated to continue their efforts to discover and fund companies that have potential to make a difference in the world.
